Last Movies remaps the century of cinema according to the final films watched by some of its cultural icons, giving an audience the opportunity to ‘see what those who see no more last saw’.
Last Movies is a publication (Tenement Press, 2023), film programme and feature-length documentary film. Programme notes authored by Erika Balsom can be viewed here. The book can be ordered here in paperback and here in hardback, with ‘last words’ by Nicole Brenez and an ‘intermission’ by Bill Drummond. Last Movies premiered at Light Industry in NYC on 4 November, and had a monthly residency at the ICA in London (22 November 2023—12 March 2024). Screenings continue and are listed along with press and more information at Tenement Press.
The Last Movies movie will be released in 2026, with first screenings at CPH:DOX and Open City Documentary Festival.
